Each year children from lower income families are provided scholarships to attend Camp U-Grow (501 (C) 3 Tax Exempt) for 3 weeks. The scholarship money comes from several sources including individuals, businesses, corporations, and Social Services of Metropolitan Nashville Government.

Children have come to Camp U-Grow on scholarships from Social Services for the past two summers.  Parents must register for camp and then go to Social Services and qualify for free camp vouchers.  Registration runs for one week.

This year there was a unusually large number of parents that went to Social Services the first and second day of registration resulting in Social Services giving out all their money allotted for free vouchers on the first and second day of registration.  Twenty-four children who had pre-registered at Camp U-Grow each received three week of free camp vouchers.

There is a problem though!  U-Grow Adventures is asking for your help!    Twenty-one additional children also registered for three weeks of camp at Camp U-Grow.  When the parents of these children went to register they were told by Social Services that all money had been given out. The twenty-one children attend Harpeth Valley Elementary School where my mother (Camp Director of Camp U-Grow) teaches and where U-Grow Adventures facilitates an after-school program.  Twenty-one children and families are very disappointed.  U-Grow Adventures has told these parents and children that we are working to solicit donations from individuals, businesses, and corporations to fund the additional camp scholarships.

$12,000 would fund 24 children attending camp for 3 weeks each!  Children who would receive these scholarships are from downtown Nashville, foster homes, and children who are living with grandparents and aunts and uncles.

U-Grow Adventures would like to thank you for reviewing our request.  We hope that you will donate and  make Camp U-Grow a fun and rewarding experience for these children.

Sincerely,                                                                                                Back to U-Grow Adventures
