PROGRAMS OF U-GROW ADVENTURES

Programs...

U-GROW ADVENTURES' mission is to introduce and reinforce the values of kindness, respect, trust, and responsibility through diverse programs that compliment traditional education, the home, and community. The opportunities provided through unique, creative, and interactive learning based programs will help each child more fully realize his/her unique potential.

"FIELD TRIP BROUGHT TO YOU"... "K9's - 4- KIDS" & "VERTICAL FUN" is presented in public and private schools, day cares, and camps. There are two parts to the program. They may be done separately or combined. PART ONE: (K9's -4- KIDS) The purpose of the program is to present and reinforce the values of kindness, respect, trust, and responsibility in a unique and entertaining way. A program featuring specially trained Labrador Retrievers performing an obstacle course routine of tricks is presented to groups of 200 plus children. The presenter introduces the above values, relates them to the training of his dog and also relates the values to children and their successful family interaction, academic success, and appropriate peer interaction. PART TWO: ("VERTICAL FUN") On a designated date, each child has an opportunity to climb "Vertical Fun" a 24 foot portable climbing wall which utilizes an "Auto-Belay" device. It offers an opportunity to "climb to the top" on a realistic climbing surface with 3 levels of difficulty challenging the beginner to advanced climber. This experience helps build self-confidence and self-esteem and fosters positive group interaction.

"STUDENTS IN ACTION" is a program that focuses on both large and small group interaction. The objectives of this program include fostering self-esteem and self-confidence, developing and increasing decision making skills, increasing academic achievement, and improving interaction with peers and adults. The activities include arts and crafts, recreational activities, active learning games, tutoring, creative role-playing and dramatics, and a token incentive program. Interaction with specially trained Labrador Retrievers is an integral part of the program. "Students In Action" was started as an after-school program. Due to its success and the increased demand for more programs, it is now offered in some schools as part of the daily curriculum.

"CAMP U-GROW" offers two programs for children. All activities center on reinforcing the values of kindness, respect, trust, and responsibility through the use of pet interaction. During the school year children may participate in weekend overnight retreats and Saturday day camps at Camp U-Grow. During the summer, Camp U-Grow is the setting for day camps and overnight camps. Camp U-Grow is located on a farm north of Franklin. Activities at the camp include swimming, hiking, horseback riding, fishing, archery, arts and crafts, recreational and team building games, and activities stressing physical fitness and nutrition. A 24 foot portable climbing wall offers an exciting and challenging activity for the children. The goal of the camp is to help each child strengthen their sense of self-worth and self-confidence, develop methods of conflict resolution, and learn to deal constructively with anger and violence. Each child is challenged to be accountable for their own actions and how to interact appropriately with their peers.

"LTPI" (Learning Through Pet Interaction)is a program designed for special needs children (autistic, hearing impaired, ADHD, and learning disability). This program offers self-paced interaction with specially trained Labrador Retrievers in a non-threatening environment. The goal is to promote peer interaction, socially acceptable behavior, self-confidence, and self-motivation.  The is done through in-school programs and after school programs done at Camp-U-Grow.
